SCUBAPRO Cares - Reducing Our Footprint
Contributing to a Healthy Planet
SCUBAPRO is tirelessly working toward providing reusable packaging for all of our products. By this we don't just mean packaging made from recycled materials. Rather, we're working toward packaging that is actually reusable -- for storage, for transport -- enabling you to use and reuse not just the dive equipment itself, but the packaging the equipment comes in, for years and years to come.
A selection of SCUBAPRO equipment like our Seawing Nova fins are already packaged in convenient reusable bags. Many of our dive computers are also delivered in cases that can be used over and over again.
This innovative packaging is not only eco-friendly, it's practical and helpful, which is why divers love them, and why we're working toward making this type of packaging available for all of our dive gear.
Coming Soon!
The mesh/fabric packaging for SCUBAPRO dive boots is due to be ugraded with new fabric packaging. This contributes to SCUBAPRO's goal of offering packaging that delivers a second life and multiple uses long after the dive boots are purchased.
At SCUBAPRO/Italy, Environmental Awareness is a Top Priority
All SCUBAPRO regulators are packaged in environmentally friendly cardboard boxes that can be recycled and reused. Also, SCUBAPRO's Italy factory, where all SCUBAPRO regulators are manufactured, gets a portion of its power from a photovoltaic solar plant, and its waste is recycled through an intensive recycle and recovery program.
The solar plant has been operating since 2002 and contributes an average of 25 percent of the factory's power needs. When it comes to waste, paper and cardboard are separated and sent to an Eco Center for recycling and recovery; wood pallets are sent to the primary supplier for recovery and regeneration; and plastics (PE, PP, Nylon, and PVC) and metals are separated for transport to their respective recovery/disposal centers.
These eco-friendly efforts aren't limited to the factory floor. In the administrative offices printer toners are sent to a recovery/regeneration center. Even the restrooms have gone green -- the rolls of towels are made from recycled cotton.
