Why did you decide to take the giant stride into the oceans?

I loved snorkelling in the Red Sea when I was a kid and I knew I was going to try diving one day. What I didn’t know was that I was going to fall head over heels for it and that it would turn my world around (if I had, I would have started much sooner - I got scuba certified only a few years ago).

How has diving changed your life?

It started as a hobby which allowed complete transformation, relaxation and excitement at the same time (especially since my lifestyle involved the corporate and start-up madness). Since I started diving in 2017 I have spent a substantial amount of my holidays chasing island sunsets and sharks. A few years later I quit the corporate and start-up world and started implementing my business skills in the diving industry – from large PADI IDC dive centres to small luxury boutique operations. Yielding to my entrepreneurial spirit, I started a dive blog which aims to help people pick their next scuba holiday destination.

What kind of diving do you like to do?

TROPICAL! I travel to remote places around the equator in search of pristine coral reefs. I particularly enjoy channel diving, strong currents and shark action!

Tell us about one of the most amazing experiences you have had underwater.

Every time I travel it’s an adventure. I feel I could write a novel about it!  My most memorable dive moment to date was one of the first times I was diving with strong current in the Maldives – a sunrise channel dive. As we were holding our masks and regs to stop them being swept away, a massive tiger shark came out of the blue, checked us out and disappeared again. This was the best birthday surprise ever!

Where are some of your favorite places underwater?

I have had the best dives of my life in the Maldives and Indonesia. These are two places I can return to anytime. The scale of the biodiversity is so large that your mind is blown on every dive!

What is your advice to someone considering diving?

Be very careful with the place you pick for your first dives - if you go for warm water, good visibility, healthy reefs and/or amazing sea life encounters YOU WILL BECOME ADDICTED! :) I advise everyone, who has decided to do their open water scuba certification, to invest in their own diving mask and fins as it is much more comfortable and you will be able to enjoy yourself and the surroundings to the fullest. Irrespective of where you start diving, as soon as you dip your head in the water and submerge, you will discover a whole new world, which is bound to fascinate you.

What would you tell people about the oceans?

I have made it my job to showcase the beauty of the oceans through the Dive into Life blog. It aims to inspire divers to discover new places and travellers to try scuba diving.

I collect insider tips about diving destinations and together with some of the most talented underwater photographers, I present the marvels you can find beneath the surface. I believe that the best way to spread love is through visuals!

What does diving mean to you?

To me, diving is pure joy! I am absolutely fascinated by the things I see underwater.

What’s your favourite thing in your dive bag?

My Synergy Twin dive mask! It seals my face perfectly and it is so comfortable that I completely forget I have it on while I’m diving.
